SSFC Women gear up for Alnwick Town cup visit

South Shields Women enter the Adobe Women’s FA Cup at the Second Round Qualifying stage when they travel to Alnwick Town Ladies this Sunday (2pm kick-off).

It has been a difficult start to the 2025/26 season for the lasses, who are without any wins in the NERWFL Premier Division, and they will come up against a refreshed Alnwick Town side who have started well.

Shields made history in last season’s edition of the competition by reaching the Second Round Proper – they have it all to prove in order to repeat their previous successes.

Last time we met

The two teams last faced each other at the end of the 2024/25 season – watch back the highlights from Shields’ 2-0 defeat in April here.

Alex’s thoughts

Co-Head Coach Alex Miller previewed Sunday's game; watch the full pre-match interview here.

Ellie’s thoughts

Ellie White spoke to us this week ahead of our trip to Alnwick.

She said: “I’m looking forward to some cup action, especially since last season in the FA Cup and how well we did was definitely up there with my favourite games of football.

“I think obviously with results not going our way so far this season, everyone is determined to put things right."

Information for supporters

Kick-off at Greensfield (NE66 2DH) is at 2pm this Sunday, September 21st – it is free entry.
