Shields return home on Bank Holiday Monday!

Mike Williamson and his squad return home on Bank Holiday Monday to face Jimmy Dean’s newly promoted Spalding United, who were promoted after finishing second in the Northern Premier Division on 85 points, finishing 10 points behind fellow Enterprise National League North side, Harborough Town.

The fixture comes just 48 hours after The Mariners’ fixture against Brackley Town at St James Park was abandoned 32 minutes in due to a waterlogged pitch at 0-0, meaning Robbie Tinkler’s suspension will carry forward to Monday’s game.

Spalding have made a steady start to their first season in the Enterprise National League North, winning two, drawing one, and losing 2, starting the season strong with a 2-0 win away to Radcliffe.

The Tulips have made several new signings to prepare for life in the Enterprise National League North, with the notable additions of Zaid Betteka, who signs from Birmingham City, and Sam Straughan-Brown, who joins on loan from League One side Doncaster Rovers.

In their most recent fixture, The Tulips came away with all three points against Worksop Town, winning 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick scored by 6’5 striker, Bartosz Cybulski.
