South Shields are delighted to announce that Paul Blackett has signed a three-year contract extension – with the option for another year.
The 26-year-old forward extends his stay on the back of a self-decorated season where he was named Mariners Player of the Season and Vanarama National League North Player of the Season.
Blackett scored 30 goals in his first season in Claret and Blue, topping the scoring charts for both Club and League.
The Mariners front-man was eager to get the extension over the line.
"I thought it was important to get it done before the start of the season and not let it hang over for too long, and I'm delighted to get it done.
"I'm really happy here and I don't feel like I needed a change in terms of where I need to be at.
"Obviously we were unlucky last year to miss out on the play-offs and hopefully we can go one better."
Shields Manager Elliott Dickman was thrilled to keep his main man for a number of years to come.
"We are absolutely delighted that Paul has agreed a new three-year contract with the Club.
"He has this exceptional ability to create and score goals.
"The fact that he was awarded Top Goalscorer and Player of the Year by the League is a testament to how Paul plays the game.
"We know that keeping Paul with us is vital in our plans to help continue to improve and develop as a team and Club.
"We are thrilled that he has chosen to extend his stay with us."
