South Shields FC are delighted to announce the signing of Aidan Rutledge on a season-long loan from Gateshead subject to FA and National League ratification.
The 23-year-old forward links up with fellow Heed loanee Jamie Bramwell at the 1st Cloud Arena.
Rutledge spent last season on loan at Scarborough Athletic and Darlington respectively, scoring 11 goals across the Vanarama National League North campaign.
The 2023 BBC Newcastle Player of the Year described the move as a 'no brainer'.
"Being a local lad, I've seen this Club go up in the leagues – a bit like myself – so I'm happy to get it over the line.
"It'll suit me better coming to a place which is full-time.
"I've spoke to a lot of people who have worked under [Elliott Dickman] in the past – and everybody speaks so highly of him so I'm excited to get going."
Manager Elliott Dickman is pleased to have the centre-forward on board.
"We are delighted that Aidan has agreed to join us on a season long loan.
"Aidan is a player that works hard for the team and is relentless with his attitude, as well as quality, with his goal scoring ability.
"We welcome him into our squad and we are looking forward to his contribution to our season."
